Admin Support to Client Development Manager: Lisa’s Inspiring Career Journey at NEP
After taking a career break to care for her young family, Lisa returned to the workforce with a strong background in finance, having held various accounting roles and earning the qualifications to match. She initially joined NEP on a short-term, temporary contract. What began as a three-month admin support role for the Transition Team has since evolved into a fulfilling and successful long-term career. Today, Lisa is our Client Development Manager, and her journey is a shining example of how dedication, ambition, and the right support can shape a remarkable career path.
Starting Out: A Foot in the Door
Lisa’s first role at NEP was through an agency, providing admin support to the team helping organisations transition from Oracle R12 to Cloud. It was a temporary role, but Lisa made the most of the opportunity, demonstrating a proactive mindset and an eagerness to learn from day one.
Climbing the Ladder
Lisa’s development at NEP did not happen overnight, it was a steady climb built on hard work and commitment. Her progression tells a powerful story:
- Secured a permanent admin role
- Promoted to a Project Configuration Officer, then moved across to become a Client Relationship Manager Support Lead
- Became a Client Relationship Manager
- Moved into leadership, proudly as our Client Development Manager
Each step in her career brought new challenges and learning experiences, and Lisa embraced them all.
Learning and Development: Tools for Growth

“I’ve had the chance to complete an Apprenticeship and CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership” says Lisa. “There were also plenty of in-house courses through Northumbria, both online and in person.”
But what stood out most for Lisa was the mentorship and support from colleagues. “If you have the desire to progress, NEP will support you every step of the way.”
Support that Matters
Having a consistent and encouraging manager made a big difference in Lisa’s journey. “I’ve been lucky to have the same manager from the beginning, someone who saw my strengths early on and helped build my confidence. Our regular one-to-ones allowed me to talk openly about my ambitions and development areas.”
This kind of supportive environment empowered Lisa to pursue her goals, grow professionally, and ultimately land a role where she truly excels.
Effort, Opportunity, and Recognition
At NEP, potential is rewarded but Lisa is quick to point out that ambition must be matched by effort. “NEP absolutely recognises potential, but you have to put in the work, too.”
That mindset helped her earn one of her proudest achievements to date: winning the Client Relationship Award at the 2024 NEP Annual Conference. A well-deserved acknowledgement of her impact and dedication.
Life as a Client Development Manager
Lisa’s current role is dynamic and client-focused. “No two weeks are the same,” she says. “I have regular catch-ups with the organisations I support, where I help identify ways they can get the most out of NEP Cloud. It’s about listening, understanding needs, and finding proactive solutions.”
